HOW DOES THE CLUB WORK ?

The Club works on a star system, and each week in each resort in the Directory is graded in stars according to demand, quality, location, facilities and the holiday seasons of the year. For example, if week 01 (2nd January to 9 January), a 7 day holiday in an apartment at the Strand Pavilion has been graded 300 stars while the same 7 day holiday in the same apartment during week 04-12, which are out of season, would be graded 100 stars. This is because there is much more demand for the January week. As a member of the Rainbow Holiday Club, you are given a fixed number of stars, which are renewed every twelve months. To go on holiday, you exchange your stars for the holiday of your choice. The system is totally flexible. Provided that you have enough stars, you can choose any week in any resort at any time of the year, subject to availability. You can also save some or all your stars for up to five years. For example, if you have 200 stars this year, you could decide on an out-of-season 7 day holiday using 100 or less stars and save the balance for an in-season holiday or even two 7 day holidays the following year. If you have the time, it is even possible to take four different 7 day holidays in four different resorts using a total of only 200 stars in one year.

HOW DO I GET MY STARS ?

The Rainbow Holiday Club has two categories of membership, single membership is R25.00 per month for 250 stars and double membership is R50.00 per month for 550 stars per annum. Double membership caters for families with children who need to go on holiday during school holidays, when demand is greatest. They need more stars for the same resort because the school holiday weeks have a higher star grading. Single members are more flexible as to when they go on holiday and generally use less stars because out-of-season demand is lower.

HOW OFTEN CAN I GO ON HOLIDAY ?

You can take 7 day holidays in any one year in as many resorts as you please, provided that you have sufficient stars available. Some resorts even allow you to split your 7 days into a 4 day midweek break and a separate 3 day weekend. The system is totally flexible. The choice is yours.

CAN I GO OVERSEAS ?

Through its association with Flexi-Club, all Rainbow Holiday Club members have access to over 3 500 top resorts around the world. You need 250 stars for any 7 days holiday accommodation anywhere in the world.

WHAT DOES IT COST ?

As a member, you pay a nominal membership fee. In addition, before you go on holiday , you pay a user charge which varies from resort to resort and the size of the apartment that you have booked. The user charge covers the cost of ensuring that every apartment is fully equipped and maintained to the highest standards. This non-profit charge is directly linked to the use of the apartment and represents a fraction of what a seven day holiday would cost if you didn't belong to the Club. When you phone reservations to discuss your holiday requirements, your holiday planner will advise you what the user charge will be for the holiday that you want.

WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION IS AVAILABLE ?

With few exceptions, each resort offers a range of fully equipped, self-catering apartments.
If you refer to the resort information section of the Directory, you will find that all the details are available.
For instance, the Strand Pavilion, has a table which shows the following:

B/R - number of bedrooms in each type of apartment, from studio to three bedroom.
SLP - the number of people that each apartment sleeps privately.
MAX - the maximum number of people that each apartment sleeps, using additional sleeper couches.
The rest of the table shows the number of stars that you would need for a 7 day holiday in any particular week of the year. You will also see that each holiday week at the Strand Pavilion starts on a Friday (see top left), so week 01 starts on a Friday of January, week 02 the second Friday of January and so on.
